Tom Phillips

CEO

Tom joined m6d in October 2009. He has been a media and technology innovator for over twenty years. He co-founded Spy magazine, developed the first family of vertical internet media properties at Starwave (including ESPN.com, NFL.com, NBA.com and ABCnews.com), was CEO of Deja.com (sold to eBay and Google), and established the Search & Analytics team at Google, pioneering new uses of Google data on behalf of major advertising clients. He has a BA in Applied Math from Harvard and an MBA from Stanford.

Penry Price

President

Penry joined m6d in June 2011. He spent the prior seven years at Google, where he managed business strategy and global partnerships with advertising agencies (representing 30% of Google’s global revenues). He took on this role in 2009, after managing Google’s 750-person North American sales and account management teams. Under Penry’s leadership, this group’s revenues grew from $250M in 2004 to $3.3B in 2009. Prior to Google, Penry was Advertising Director at Us Weekly, following sales management positions at Wenner Media and Hachette Filipacchi. Penry has a BA from Hobart College, and was named to the AAF Advertising Hall of Achievement in 2008.

Andrew Pancer

COO

Andrew joined m6d in September 2008. He was Vice President of Digital Development at the New York Times, and COO and CFO of About.com, where revenues and profits tripled during his tenure (revenues exceeded $100M). He has a BS in Business Administration from Washington University and an MBA from NYU.

Rod Hook

CTO

Rod co-founded m6d in January 2008. He has over a dozen years of experience designing and scaling several of the largest digital marketing platforms ever built. An early open source advocate for corporate environments, Rod has a record of architecting technical soluitions for extremely high volume, complex, mission-critical functions using open source technology and commodity hardware. Rod was CTO of AdModus (sold to Connexus), an advertising platform engineered to maximize publisher yields through semantic analysis and contextual and behavioral targeting data. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky.

Claudia Perlich

Chief Scientist

Claudia joined m6d in February 2010. She worked in Data Analytics Research at IBM’s Watson Research Center, concentrating on data analytics and machine learning for complex real-world domains and applications. She has been published in over 30 scientific journals, and holds multiple patents in machine learning. She has won many data mining competitions, including the prestigious KDD Cup three times for her work on movie ratings in 2007, breast cancer detection in 2008, and churn and propensity predictions for telecom customers in 2009, as well as the KDD best paper award for data leakage in 2011. Claudia has a PhD in Information Systems from NYU and an MA in Computer Science from Colorado University.
